Understanding Fire Safety
In England and Wales, legislation mandates that if you are an employer, owner, landlord, or occupier of non-domestic or business premises, you bear the responsibility for fire safety and are referred to as the 'responsible person.' The governing law is the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, which has replaced all previous fire legislation since October 1, 2006. You can find more information at https://www.gov.uk/workplace-fire-safety-your-responsibilities.
In Scotland, fire safety legislation is regulated by the Fire (Scotland) Act 2005, while in Northern Ireland, it falls under The Fire Safety Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2010.
The fundamental step in the fire safety process is conducting a fire risk assessment. If you lack the expertise or time to carry out this assessment yourself, you will need to appoint a 'competent person' to assist you, such as a professional fire risk assessor. If you are uncertain about the adequacy of your risk assessment, your local fire and rescue authority may offer guidance, although they cannot conduct risk assessments on your behalf.
We offer a comprehensive fire safety solution and have fully qualified assessors who can conduct fire risk assessments on your behalf, ensuring your compliance with the law. After your fire risk assessment is completed, we can provide guidance, install, and service the necessary equipment. Our product range is categorised into four primary areas, each corresponding to a crucial aspect of fire safety. The specific requirements will be determined by your business nature and the type of premises you occupy.
